Biography
My entire life has been art-oriented. My grandfather, Marius Barbeau, one of the founders of the Museum of Civilization, collected French Canadian and Native artifacts from all over the country. My father, Arthur Price, was a professional painter and sculptor, and most of my siblings have pursued careers in visual arts. I started full-time work on fabric sculptures in 2001. I am a member of the Textile Study Group of New York, and of the International Sculpture Center.
Hello Toulie,
ReplyDeleteI'm the author of two nonfiction books, one of which is on fiber arts. I'm currently writing a new book about 2D and 3D fabric art. It would include artist profiles, photos of their work, as well as how-to projects for simpler versions of each artist's pieces or a detailed description of a technique used.
I’d love to include you in the book, if you’re interested.
The book will be about sculptural art made primarily of fabric (cotton, silk, synthetic, wool, etc.) and not paper, yarn, thread, or basket materials (although those can be a part of the piece). It can be representational or fantastic. It should not be utilitarian. Art installations will be considered.
To evaluate your work for this project, I would need electronic photos. I will not use them for any purpose other than to include them in a book proposal to potential publishers.
Once I secure interest from a publisher, I will need to set up an interview and a contract.
If you're interested in contributing, and if you know someone else who might be, please contact me at andystanton@comcast.net.
Happy New Year!
